Medical scoring systems presents one of the best topics that could be open for fuzzy approximate reasoning application in the field of biomedical engineering. This paper proposes a model of an early warning score system (EWS) controller based on Mamdani type fuzzy logic controller (FLC) built up in the MATLAB Fuzzy Toolbox and Simulink environment. A FLC model has been built for each type of measurements that are used in the EWS system, then a complex reasoning system was built up in the Simulink environment including the previously constructed FLC-s to aggregate their results and make the final decision about the patient's status. The decisions based on fuzzy reasoning are compared with the classical, known EWS decision methods.
