On Complementarities Between Techniques and Tao

Against the background of digital information era, the digital technology has provided art design with broader development space, more alternative ways of expression and higher efficiency. However, with the development and popularization of digital technology, art design industry is increasingly reliant upon the digital tools. Should art design put more emphasis on Techniques or Tao? The present thesis argues that Techniques can promote but not surmount Tao, and Techniques can reach the level of Tao but never replace it. Only when Techniques and Tao complement each other, can art be perfectly integrated with technology, and art works be possessed of both visual impacts and artistic connotation.
