A Study of the Characteristics and Extraction of Buzzwords Based on DCC

The definition, characteristics, categories, curve of the evolution of buzzwords and three methods of extracting buzzwords are discussed in the DCC dynamic circulation corpus. The buzzword refers to a word which is widely and rapidly spread in a certain period or a certain range. Nominal buzzwords account for a vast majority of buzzwords, while verbs account for only a minority. The proportion of two syllables is not very high, and the proportion of four syllables is the highest, followed by three syllables, and then five syllables. The proportion of nine syllables and above is also on the rise. Words with different number of syllables must be segmented to extract buzzwords. The full segmentation method to extract buzzword candidates can achieve more ideal results.
