The modern approach to digital substations involves the use of a sufficiently large number of merging units (MU) and intelligent electronic devices (IED), the data transfer between them is carried out through the Local Area Network (LAN) using the SV and GOOSE protocols. While developing the LAN structure it is needed to take into account the amount of traffic produced by SV streams. To ensure reliable operation of protection automation control system (PACS) for digital substation it is necessary to use specialized methods for managing broadcast traffic (VLAN, QoS, etc.).
