AQUICULTURA NA AMAZÔNIA: ENTRAVES E POSSIBILIDADES DO DESENVOLVIMENTO ENDÓGENO NA ATIVIDADE

The endogenous models of economic exploration observed in the Brazilian Amazon reflect a scenario of inequality and poverty. Rural aquaculture activity is being promoted, as a good source of protein and income diversification to try to reduce these disparities. Thus, the present work intends to address the difficulties and potentialities to achieve endogenous development through aquaculture. It is known that local development is dedicated to seeking self-sustainable growth in backward regions, which should occur based on the intensive use of science and appropriate technologies. Institutions are fundamental, as they allow for the incorporation of innovations that lead to the diversification of productive activities. Local actors need to be involved in strategies and goals, while communities need to participate in the management and control of development initiatives. In the Amazon, it is observed that endogenous development is generally involved in a slow process, which requires specific initiatives for the reality of each territory.
