Tuning gain of PI controller based on Meta-heuristic techniques
The absence of a deterministic algorithm able to solve, in an optimal way and in a reasonable calculation time, combinatorial optimization problems, is the reason to move towards approximate algorithms of research called metaheuristics. This paper discusses the application of DTC on PM synchronous motor in closed loop and presents a comparative study between classical and meta-heuristic algorithms to tune the Proportional Integrator rotor speed gain, in order to resolve problems associated with conventional Proportional Integrator speed controller which is often characterized by an overshoot during start up. Complete simulation model for direct torque control of PMSMincorporating the proposed speed controller is developed in Matlab/Simulink software. Its simulated performances are then compared to those of a classical Proportional Integrator controller
