Menez","doi":"10.1109/IMSAA.2007.4559090","DOIUrl":null,"url":null,"abstract":"The evolution to IP-based next-generation networks, the widely adoption of IMS by both fixed and mobile service providers and the need to better integrate enterprise solutions with telecom services are expected to drive a new wave of enhanced services that will seamlessly combine IT and telecom technologies. Telecom service providers have great expectations from these new networks, helping them to reduce their costs, to extend their reach (with the ability to offer services across multiple access networks to a wide range of personal devices) and to respond more quickly to ever-changing requirements from consumers and enterprise customers. Indeed, these customers are expecting more and more blended lifestyle services including multimedia and interactive services. But, even if network technologies are evolving, the biggest barrier to increased service adoption is still that the user experience does not meet consumer expectations. Then, this paper describes work being undertaken within HP OpenCall Software group and explores strong new user experiences and business models and their associated benefits, technical challenges and implementation choices. This work is based on our experience from using standard IT services in collaboration with the IMS technology in different areas to implement the instant group communication class of applications.
