Alexander Khubeev Shares His Experience of Working in Germany

In this interview, the composer A. Khubeev shares his impressions of the months he spent in Germany as a fellow of the Berlin Academy of Arts. The most important aspect of the conversation is the composer’s assertion that the contemporary art of music have undergone some notable changes: the ubiquity of multimedia technology, the change in musical material. A. Khubeev emphasizes the overall diversity of approaches to the composing of music. Besides, the current moment is specifically featured by the fact that there is no antagonism between the followers of different trends: any kinds of “stylistic crazes” of today have their right to exist, without waiting for their recognition within the paradigm of already established aesthetic categories.
