The Dynamic Evolution Analysis of Regional Development Differences of High-tech Industries : —Based on China's data from 1997 to 2019

This paper uses Theil index model to measure the dynamic evolution of regional difference in the development of high-tech industries in China from 1997 to 2019. The results show that the overall regional difference of China's high-tech industry development has experienced a process of first rising and then declining with the boundaries of 2003. Before 2003, the regional development was not balanced and the overall regional difference was non-convergence. After 2003, the overall regional difference narrowed year by year, showing a trend of gradual balanced development. In the same period, the inter-regional differences also experienced a process of first rising and then declining, while the intra-regional differences showed a general downward trend. From the contribution degree to the total difference, the inter-regional difference occupies the main contribution. In addition, some data show that some intra-regional differences in the four major regions are negative, which indicates that the development of these provinces is relatively slow.
