The way of teaching function is not restricted to the classroom, students appreciate innovations, new ways of portraying subjects, methodologies that involve ordinary situations with their study, thus making teaching-learning something more rewarding, showing to students the benefits this content will add to their lives. Thus, this research aimed to contextualize the related functions in problem situations from the intervention in a High School in the city of Uruçuí-PI, with the purpose of answering questions about the importance of this application for teachinglearning. To carry out the work, initially, all students were informed about the research and its purposes and signed a Free Informed Consent Term, and then a questionnaire was applied to the students of the 1st grade of the School Unit under study, in order to analyze previous knowledge about the related function, diagnosing its main difficulties. Subsequently, an intervention was performed through the teaching of functions, followed by a practice with contextualization exploration, highlighting the points in which the research participants presented greater difficulties. After that, a second questionnaire was applied, exploring the same subject addressed in the first, but with different and contextualized questions. A promising performance was found compared to the previous situation diagnosed.
