The assessment criteria according to the US Department of Defense (DoD) can be adjusted to the process carried out by the intended industry. The implementation of MRL assessment helps to manage risk in the manufacturing process by improving the work performance to increase the quality product, reducing cycle time, save the cost production and as a result MRL provide the scale of manufacturing readiness. This research conducting the study of the initial approach by analysis of the manufacturing readiness level, especially for the defense industry in Indonesia. To support the research process, the researcher used the literature study as a method which provides a resource from scientific journals and MRL Desk book by DoD. The analysis with MRL will help the stakeholder also the government to develop the defense industry in the future.
