Technological Obsolescence Management of Electrical Equipment and Automation Systems
Technological obsolescence and life-cycle management of electrical equipment and automation systems is of fundamental importance to guarantee the operational continuity of power and industrial plants. This paper presents a methodology to manage technological obsolescence and establishes requirements to classify equipment and systems into obsolescence grades. Moreover, it presents criteria to determine the impacts of each failure in production losses. Finally, it shows a prioritized ranking of the mitigation actions to minimize or even eliminate the risk of production losses. As a result, there is an increase in the reliability of plants, avoiding downtime, and a rational budget destination.
