Automatic transfer switch using IEC 61850 protocol in smart grids
Ensuring continuity of power supply is one of the major tasks in energy sector. Using permanent dual power supply will reduce short-circuit impedance and increase short-circuit current. Supply schemes are so made that power can be achieved in two ways, from the same source or from different sources. In general, consumers are supplied from a single source, for normal operating and in case of fault on this with automatic transfer switch device, the supply will be on backup source. In this paper is presented a new automatic transfer switch system using IEC 61850 communication protocol which remove the wired electrical signals between digital equipment.
