摘要

本文研究了西苏门答腊女子监狱及荷兰殖民政权对女囚的待遇。(苏门答腊Westkust)。作为史学著作,它采用了一种现代史的安排:启发式、内外批判;解释分类;史学上的解释。它运用女性史的方法,研究男权制度下女性的地位。研究结果表明:监狱始建于17世纪,随着荷兰政权的日益强大,监狱始建于地势较高的巴东;2)据记载,当时没有女囚病房,在送去爪哇之前,男囚病房中只有专门为女囚设立的房间,所有人员均为男性;3)由于女囚牢房和女囚人员的缺乏,使得女囚遭受了加倍的惩罚,尤其是那些拘泥于习俗和道德的女囚。
