This research aims to know students’ understanding on idiom by analyzing whether idioms affect sentence comprehension. The subjects were students in grade XI of SMAN 13 Bandar Lampung. The researcher took one class as the sample of 25 students randomly. This research was analyzed using descriptive statistic method. In collecting the data, the researcher used a test in the form of Westlife songs and task completing. The result showed that the students understanding in both literal meaning and idiom were still low, their average score was under 60.
