In this paper, we present two cases where groups of students solved an engineering design problem in teams. Using \"Productive Disciplinary Engagement\" as our analytical lens, we investigated that how does the quality of the disciplinary and collaborative engagements of the teams varied while they managed design uncertainties collaboratively.
