Reaction of Buck Rabbits White Cells to Intake of Langucularia Raecemosa (White Mangrove Leaves) As Feed Additive
A study was conducted to assess the reaction of buck rabbits white cells to intake of Languculaira Racemosa leaves as feed additive. Languculaira Racemosa leave was harvested from the Eagle Island, Port Harcourt, Rivers State of Nigeria were oven dried and grind into powdery form for easy application. . Four diets A, B, C and D were formulated; 0gm (control), 70gm, 80gm and 90gm per kg feed in treatment A, B, C and D representively were fed to twenty four rabbits (6 rabbits per treatment) assigned to four treatments in a completely randomized design and the experiment lasted for sixty-four days. At the end of the feed trial period, three rabbits per treatment group were slaughtered and blood sample were collected for white blood cell assay. The result revealed that the inclusion of Languculaira Racemosa leaves as feed additive did not introduce any presence of exogenous toxic substances of foreign body that will adversely influence the white blood cell counts.
