Vulnerability testing in online shopping android applications
With the rapid growth of Android OS as major smartphone runner, the popularity of online shopping apps are also increasing. Various shopping based apps are available in the market which are eventually subjected to global network augmentation. Most of the apps require in-app transaction of money. So malicious program developers may sneak for vulnerabilities in the apps and try to exploit those risks to gain personal as well as financial information. In this paper, we have selected some popular online shopping android apps to carry out an empirical study to observe seven vulnerabilities. We have used quality tools to check for the vulnerabilities. We documented the results of our testing, showed the statistics and discussed possible measures to avoid those. Our results show that even popular apps like Amazon and Ebay are not free from vulnerabilities. This study will help the developers be more aware and in turn benefit the potential users.
