FCC proposal to utilize industry standards for controlling interference
The procedures for determining compliance of devices subject to Part 15 of the rules and regulations of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) are being updated to reflect, among other things, recent changes to the regulations. The current practice of testing compliance of a Part 15 device is to use, in most instances, an FCC-generated test procedure. Because of recent difficulties in adopting FCC-generated procedures, the Commission staff is working with an industry committee to develop a single, industry-consensus standard for testing compliance of many of the devices subject to Part 15. The background, process. difficulties. implementation, and status of the industry standard are discussed.<>
