Gain-dependent polarization properties of vertical-cavity lasers
We show that the power partitioning between orthogonal TE polarization states depends on their relative spectral alignment with the gain spectrum in VCSELs. A simple means of maintaining a dominant eigen polarization for all elements in a VCSEL array is described.
