“(Re)Knowing to take care: characterization of the public of the Applied Psychology Service (SPA) of the João Uchôa campus” was a research carried out within the scope of the Scientific Initiation program of the Estácio de Sá University, which aimed to outline the profile and needs of people served at the SPA on the João Uchôa campus. This is a qualitative-quantitative study using methodological procedures of descriptive-retrospective documental research. Data were collected through direct consultation of 300 documents from users who sought individual psychological care in the years 2018 and 2019. The results show that the months with the highest number of visits were September (20.7%); March (17.7%) and April (14.7%). There is a predominance of females among users: 198 people (66%). Their ages range from 6 to 84 years old, with most adults between 20 and 30 years old. In the registration forms, there was a significant lack of information about the family constitution that has different constitutions: matrimonial, single parent, anaparental, reconstituted, single person, among others. Most users earn up to two minimum wages and the description of their complaints is diverse. The most frequent is relationship difficulties (12.4%), followed by anxiety (9.7%) and depression (3.3%). Users usually perform only 1 service. It is understood that the (re) knowledge and characterization of users is of great importance, with the objective of assisting in the strategies of interns, supervisors and coordinators, in addition to collaborating in the direction of a quality service for the community.
