La defensa de los derechos de los migrantes y refugiados desde la Iglesia católica | The defense of the rights of migrants and refugees from the Catholic Church

This article presents the perspective of the Catholic Church on the defense of migrants and refugees in the context of human rights. In the first place, there is a contextualization of human rights and the Catholic Church based on the tensions initially presented. Second, the migrant and refugee issues are briefly detailed from the ecclesial history and biblical perspective. Then, there is an approach from the Social Doctrine of the Church and from the renewed perspective of Pope Francis. Finally, the pastoral action of the Church on human mobility is briefly described. In conclusion, although the Catholic Church initially had an ambivalent position regarding human rights, in the case of human mobility it has been characterized by a constant attitude of welcome and hospitality as part of the Christian identity itself and that has adapted to the different times and circumstances.
