Based on a literature review and practical research, a uniform intervention manual was developed: the Papageno Music Therapy Program (PMTP). This was then tested incrementally to obtain indications of effectiveness and active elements. The evidence gathered provides insight into what happens during music therapy. Based on this, an initial working model was developed. In addition, it gives indications of the effectiveness of the treatment and shows what the use of music therapy can mean to an child with ASD.
