A semi-passive UHF RFID tag compliant with Brazilian National Automated Vehicle Identification System (SINIAV)
This paper presents a semi-passive UHF RFID tag compliant with Brazilian National Automated Vehicle Identification System (SINIAV) protocol. The tag IC is composed of analog, digital and memory sections. Innovative and efficient design solutions are adopted to increase the RF power sensitivity of the tag, where details of the proposed design are showed. A low-power PMU is implemented in the tag which features several start-up modes, such as detecting battery connection, battery level detection and RF detection, targeting long battery life and meeting SINIAV standard requirements. The semi-passive tag is manufactured in 0.18μm standard CMOS technology. The tag operates with -26dBm RF input power. Additional silicon measurements are also provided.
