Rectangular patch antenna array with defect ground structure for Wi-Fi
In homes and buildings, the presence of walls, different floor levels and other man-made obstacles provide interference and make difficult the Wi-Fi signals transmission/reception. Several antennas have been developed to overcome this problem. As example, to cover larger areas and to increase the gain, diversity antennas have been widely used by the access point manufacturers. In addition, in the market, several replacement antennas have been appeared, used to replace the original ones on the corresponding transmitter or emitter devices of several wireless systems. In this research, an antenna array is developed, on the base of a Coupled Microstrip Antenna configuration, implementing circular defects on the ground. The effect of defects in the gain increment is remarkable. Simulations are carried out to verify the performance of the proposed designs.
