There are various routing protocols developed for communication in a MANET. Owing to the basic characteristics of MANETs, designing an efficient and secure routing protocol is a daunting task. Ad hoc On Demand Distance Vector Routing Protocol (AODV) is one of the widely researched on-demand routing protocol for use in MANETs. But it is highly vulnerable to attacks as it doesn't have any security mechanism.
