Bend losses in rectangular dielectric waveguides with three dielectric layers
Radiation losses due to the curvature in rectangular optical dielectric waveguides with a step index of refraction profile in the upper and lower faces are examined. Expressions are obtained for the propagation constants along the x and y directions of the waveguide, for the conversion coefficient and for the attenuation coefficient. Appreciable radiation loss reduction compared with the homogeneous waveguide is observed.<>
