Population of Ekaterinburg according to a one-day census of 1873: experience and prospects of using the source
The paper presents the results of studying the population structure of Ekaterinburg based on data from a one-day census conducted on March 26, 1873. Sex, age and marriage structure of the population, as well as literacy rates were examined taking into account the differences between the socio-economic groups identified in the source. Analysis of the data showed that homeowners differed little from tenants in terms of the indicated socio-demographic characteristics. Simultaneously, they extremely differed from those people who did not own housing and did not rent it, but lived at the place of work or with their clients. In addition, in the course of the work, a number of errors in the source were identified and editing suggestions were proposed.
