Organo-metallic Langmuir-Blodgett multilayers: pyroelectric and dielectric properties
Attempts were made to increase the pyroelectric coefficient of a novel class of organo-metallic Langmuir-Blodgett multilayers by increasing the packing density of molecular dipoles. Pyroelectric and dielectric data are presented and compared for these materials. Although the new molecules showed improved structure and lower permittivity and dielectric loss, contrary to expectations, this approach has not produced an increase in pyroelectric coefficients. The largest figure obtained for a pure ruthenium complex remains at 0.4 mu Cm/sup -2/K/sup -1/, shown by ( eta /sup 5/-cyclopentadienyl (bistriphenylphosphine) ruthenium(4-heptadecyloxybenzonitrile) hexafluorophosphate).<>
