The article describes the work of educational institutions of the Republic in training workers and specialists, and notes the growth of their number and the number of specialties in which training was con-ducted. The role of mentoring, courses, individual and team retraining and the activities of industrial enterprises themselves to improve the skills of specialists and their retraining are revealed. Training and production bases equipped with modern equipment and visual AIDS were organized at all large enterprises. The significance of the decision of the XXV Congress of the CPSU and the tasks that were set for the system of vocational education for the further development of the vocational education system of the Republic was noted.
