Detection of Stator Short Circuits in PMSM by mean of joint Time-Frequency Analysis
This paper presents and analyzes short circuit failures for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The study includes speed transients in realistic experimental conditions. The stator current is analyzed by means of time-frequency spectral distribution (SP), Wigner Ville distribution (\WD) and Analytical Wavelet Transform (AWT); also, the ruts value of the local maximum for this distribution is calculated as indicated by Ridge-AWT algorithm. Experimental laboratory results validate the analysis and demonstrate that the time-frequency analysis can be applied to detect and identify short circuit failures in synchronous machines*.
