Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini diperoleh melalui Matching Familiar Figure Test (MFFT) yang dikembangkan oleh Warli. Hasil MFFT membagi dua kelompok siswa menjadi kelompok siswa bergaya kognitif reflektif dan kelompok siswa bergaya kognitif impulsif. Dari pengelompokan tersebut dipilih masing-masing 1 (satu) orang siswa Reflektif Perempuan (RP), 1 (satu) orang siswa Reflektif Laki-laki (RL), 1 (satu) orang siswa Impulsif Perempuan (IP) dan 1 (satu) orang siswa Impulsif Laki-laki (IL). Intrumen utama penelitian ini adalah peneliti dan instrumen bantunya adalah tes gaya kognitif (MFFT), tes kemampuan representasi matematik dan pedoman wawancara. Kemampuan representasi matematik dalam penelitian ini diidentifikasi melalui 3 indikator yang dikembangkan oleh Cai, Lane dan Jacobsin. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dalam tiga tahap yaitu (1) reduksi data, (2) penyajian data, dan (3) penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data disimpulkan bahwa (1) Siswa laki laki dan perempuan dengan gaya kognitif reflektif maupun impulsif memiliki kemampuan menginterpretasi fenomena matematik ke dalam representasi simbolik yang lebih baik daripada kemampuan mentranslasi representasi visual ke dalam representasi simbolik dan kemampuan menggunakan representasi simbolik untuk menjelaskan ide-ide matematik. (2) Siswa dengan gaya kognitif reflektif memiliki kemampuan mentranslasi representasi visual ke dalam representasi simbolik dan kemampuan menggunakan representasi simbolik untuk menjelaskan ide-ide matematik yang lebih baik daripada siswa dengan gaya kognitif impulsif.(3) Siswa laki-laki memiliki kemampuan mentranslasi representasi visual ke dalam representasi simbolik yang lebih baik daripada siswa perempuan. Sedangkan siswa perempuan memiliki kemampuan menggunakan representasi simbolik untuk menjelaskan ide-ide matematik yang lebih baik daripada siswa laki-laki.Kata Kunci: Kemampuan Representasi, Gaya Kognitif, Gender, Reflectif-impulsif Abstract: This study was aimed at revealing the profile of the mathematical representation ability of MAS Pesri Kendari students with cognitive reflective-impulsive in terms of gender. The type of this research was a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects of this study were obtained through the Matching Familiar Figure Test (MFFT) developed by Warli. The MFFT into two groups of students with reflective cognitive style and impulsive cognitive style groups. From these groupings, 1 (one) Female Reflective Student (RP) was taken, 1 (one) Male Reflective Student (RL), 1 (one) Female Impulsive Student (IP) and 1 (one) Student Male Impulsive students (IL). The main instruments of this research were the researcher and the secondary instruments were the cognitive style test (MFFT), the mathematical representation ability test and interview guidelines. The mathematical representation analysis in this study was identified through 3 indicators developed by Cai, Lane and Jacobsin. The data analysis technique was carried out in three ways, namely (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) conclusion. Based on the results of the data analysis, it was concluded that (1) Male and female students with reflective and impulsive cognitive styles had the ability to interpret mathematical phenomena into better symbolic representations than the ability to transform visual representations into symbolic representations and the ability to use symbolic representations to explain the mathematical ideas. (2) Students with reflective cognitive styles had an ability to transform visual representations into symbolic representations and ability to use symbolic representations to explain mathematical ideas better than students with impulsive cognitive styles. (3) Male students had ability to interpret visual representation into symbolic representation better than female students. While female students had the ability to use symbolic representations to explain mathematical ideas better than male students. Profil Kemampuan Representasi Matematik Siswa Madrasah Aliyah Ditinjau Dari Gaya Kognitif Dan Gender
