Concerns for improving the quality of port infrastructure are central in both developed and developing countries in a more open and integrated port competitiveness. It emerges as one of the most important subjects with omnipresence in various fields; economic, social and political. In this work, we determined the main factors relating to the evaluation of the quality of the port infrastructure based on a literature review. Then, we studied the case of the Moroccan port system according to the criteria (logistics performance index, lead time to export, lead time to import, liner shipping connectivity index and container port traffic). In this article, we adopted the partial least squares (PLS) regression method for the period 2007–2021. The results indicate that the key factors in the development of Moroccan port infrastructure are frequency and ease. Another less important factor that determines the quality of the port infrastructure in Morocco is connectivity.
