Multi-mode wake-field excitation by sequence of relativistic electron bunches in dielectric waveguide
Wake-fields, which are excited in a dielectric waveguide by relativistic electron bunches can be used in perspective accelerators of charged particles and in powerful HF generators. In the case of excitation of wake-fields by a regular sequence of bunches the fields of separate bunches superpose coherently. For large values of dielectric permittivity /spl epsi/E, due to multi-mode operation wake-field represents a sequence of soliton-like spikes of alternative signs with much higher amplitude in comparison with one principle mode excitation. In this work we take into account 50 harmonics.
