Two-Port Antenna Pair Decoupling by Modal Control for 5G Mobile Devices
In this paper, a wideband two-port antenna pair is designed for the fifth generation (5G) application. The -6 dB impedance matching bandwidth of the antenna pair can cover 3.1-5.28 GHz and the isolation is better than 10 dB. Compared to the traditional decoupling method of characteristic mode, we excite a pair of decoupling modes at each port simultaneously. An eight-element multi-input multi-output (MIMO) antenna composed of four two-port antenna pairs is simulated, fabricated, and measured. The proposed antenna pair is a good candidate for the 5G Application.
