The authors formulate an urgent task, first of all, for a university teacher: to identify and create conditions for the initial perception by foreign students of pedagogical knowledge and skills and to strengthen the motivation of pedagogical orientation in further educational activities. The authors conducted a study of the motives for educational activity and the attractiveness of teaching profession among foreign students. The results of a survey on the study of the motivational component of the professional orientation of a future teacher are presented.
