Teacher Assistance with Static Code Analysis in Programming Practicals and Project Assignments

The learning activities of the Programming courses have a high practical component. It is usual that the student’s work is assessed through one or more practical activities in the form of projects in which it is common to work in groups due to their length and complexity. In this context, a quick and detailed feedback from the teacher helps students to identify mistakes in time and to improve possible shortcomings. However, correction, evaluation and feedback tasks are time-consuming. Thus, having tools that help in the monitoring and assessment processes of students’ activities would be very useful.What is presented in this paper is an approach capable of assisting teachers in the evaluation process of Programming courses through the use of readily available tools and without the need for complex development environments, APIs or frameworks.
