A STATCOM's Reactive power may be absorbed or injected into the power system. STATCOM responds immediately to severe interruptions, such as faults or wind farm mechanical power fluctuation. It helps to restore stability and keep the voltage steady. STATCOM uses a voltage source converter to inject or absorb reactive power at a faster rate. This multiples circuit generates fewer harmonics than a simple voltage waveform. In a relatively short time, the STATCOM's dynamic response changes from capacitive to inductive functioning. In low-voltage AC systems, the STATCOM takes on the reactive-power role when voltage drops. To analyses how the proposed system would react in the real world, MATLAB software is used to simulate the dynamic model of the system.
