Minimum mean square error estimates of invariant parameters in the quadrate of ISAR signal amplitude
A minimum mean square error (MMSE) method for estimation of the invariant geometric and kinematic parameters of the quadrate amplitude of the inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) signal. is suggested. This method is an alternative to the correlation-spectral techniques used for ISAR signal processing. This computational technique is based on minimizing the mean square error in the approximation of the quadrate ISAR signal amplitude. An analytical expression of the quadrate amplitude of the ISAR signal, reflected by an object moving in a rectilinear trajectory in the ISAR pattern, is derived. The computational MMSE parameter extraction procedure is structured. The vector of the evaluated invariant parameters is defined. Analytical expressions for determining the elements of the matrixes from the calculating procedure are obtained. A simulation experiment proving the efficiency of the developed algorithm is performed. The MMSE method reveals the possibility for direct reconstruction of the object's geometry in the field of values of the invariant geometric parameters. The worked out approximation parameter extraction MMSE technique can be applied for image reconstruction in the theory and practice of inverse aperture synthesis.
