In order to reach effective optimization, control system evaluates several link parameters and finds the most appropriate data transfer path. In a WDM network, each available link disposing several wavelengths is considered. Not only basic link state parameters are considered in the control system, but also additional parameters like current utilization and maximum available capacity over a link or wavelength.
