A 5.2 GHz tunable synchronous oscillator for IEEE 802.11a applications
A low power 5.2 GHz Synchronous Oscillator (SO) is presented. This SO has been fully implemented in a 0.25 μm SiGe BiCMOS technology and is dedicated for 802.11a WLAN applications. The use of body effect provides a tunable oscillator in order to control the free running oscillation. Under 1.8 V supply and at 5.2 GHz, the core of the SO consumes 9 mW for a -114 dBc/Hz phase noise at 100 kHz from the carrier and offers 400 MHz synchronization bandwidth.
