Women Resisting Extractivism and Violence in Patagonia, Argentina
Patagonia has become a controversial scenario, marked by the struggle and resistance against extractive progress and in defense of natural resources. Neuquen is distinguished by the presence of a counterculture of protest, the hegemony of the ruling party and its cultural diversity. In this context, the struggle carried out by the Mapuce communities is the subject of our interest, specifically the participation of women in the different territorial conflicts. On this occasion, we propose to present some of the results we reached during the realization of our doctoral thesis, product of years of field work. From now on, we will go through part of the history of Neuquen, focusing on the experience of women in the Mellao Morales and their struggle. So we reflect on the extractivismo-patriarchaly relationship and the feminization process of the struggles in extractive contexts.
