根据中国首次水资源需求普查，北京首次测量了昆明湖水库的容量。结合探地雷达在昆明湖库容测量中的应用，提出了一种城市湖泊库容测量的方法，分析了探地雷达测量的可行性，总结了该工作的各种优缺点。最后，对利用探地雷达测量城市湖泊库容提出了建议。
