In this paper, we present DetectSignal, a cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) edge computing solution that provides a highly available, highly scalable, high-speed, and low latency traffic signal notification for the VIB. DetectSignal provides an interconnected traffic signal by reusing existing infrastructure and attaching a low-cost IoT device that connects with a traffic light and the public cloud. Our experimental results involve testing a notification system using a regular compute virtual machine and IoT edge-based serverless compute.
