Electromagnetic Shielding Behavior of Enclosures with Apertures
Today, electromagnetic interference (EMI) has become a huge problem for circuit designers and may become more severe in the future. There is concern about the potential health risks of people exposed to electrical and magnetic fields. Electromagnetic shielding is the process of limiting the penetration of electromagnetic fields into space by blocking them with a shield made of a conductive material. In this study, using the simulation program (CST STUDIO SUITE), the shielding effectiveness of enclosures with apertures has been investigated to perform against EMC better. The findings demonstrate that the material, frequency, and dimension of the aperture affect the shielding effectiveness of enclosures with apertures. In addition, shielding effectiveness of about 80 dB was attained when evaluating various materials and aperture sizes in the 1 to 3 GHz frequency range.
