These are connected with a period of nearly forty years. In the first period (the eighties) the author was living in Laeyendecker’s apartment at Leiden and so he met him regularly. In the second period, in the nineties, he was working at the MCKS (Multidisciplinair Centrum voor Kerk en Samenleving) of which Laeyendecker was director (1989-1991). Laeyendecker was also his co-promotor when writing on his dissertation and they both were member of a commission for advise on biotechnology.
