Incidência do cancro cítrico no município do Tomboco, provincia do Zaire, Angola
Citrus canker is caused by the bacterium Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri and affects all citrus species and varieties. The impacts of this disease are related to plant defoliation, depreciation of fruit quality due to the presence of lesions, and reduction in production due to fruit drop. The general objective of this work was to address the incidence of citrus canker in the municipality of Tomboco, Province of Zaire, Angola, in addition to performing a diagnosis of the main impacts of citrus canker, as well as alternatives for living with the disease. Results obtained showed smaller variations over time for the data collected in plants with less than five years old. As canker is a difficult disease to manage, its best control measure is the eradication of infected plants and other neighboring plants within a minimum radius of 30 meters, or multiple sprays with chemical substances.
