Developing a Simplified Network Model for Load-Flow and Harmonic Studies
The basis of every load-flow and resonance analysis is a suitable network model which may be difficult to find, e.g. due to missing data or required specific network characteristics. Therefore, a methodology to set up a simplified network model based on the honeycomb approach for load-flow and resonance analysis is introduced in this report. The aim is to build a simplified network in consideration of required characteristics, such as network topology and power plant feed-ins among others. Hereto, the network model is built out of equal honeycomb networks, which leads to a symmetrical and homogeneous network. To analyze and evaluate this approach, the method is applied on an exemplary 380-kV-transmission grid segment. A sensitivity study to verify the network characteristics as well as load-flow and resonance behavior is carried out. The results show that this approach allows to build up a scalable characteristic network model for e.g. investigating the impact of changes in the grid due to the current power system transformation towards the increase of renewable energies.
