The measurement system comprises a measuring probe and a measuring device. The probe is of the pen-type. The device includes a random noise source, amplifiers, an A/D converter, a microcomputer, a liquid crystal display and a floppy disk unit. The biomechanical impedances on the skin surface are measured and the skin viscoelasticity are obtained. SI (stiffness index) is proposed as the new index of skin stiffness.
