Effect of High-frequency Mechanical Oscillations on the Transport Properties of Quasi-onedimensional Conductors TaS3, NbS3 and (TaSe4)2I
The conductivity of filamentary samples of quasione- dimensional conductors with a charge density wave (CDW) is studied as a function of the electric field and the frequency of mechanical deformation of the sample. It was found that when the frequency of the actuators, which create deformation of the samples, coincides with one of the mechanical resonances of the sample, the I-V curve exhibits suppression of the threshold field and Shapiro-steps-like features. Other effects of mechanical vibrations on the CDW transport are also discussed. The results open up a new area of electromechanical effects in quasi-onedimensional conductors with CDWs and can be used to detect and process mechanical vibrations in the microwave range.
